ABOUT FABIAN OTTO (GERMANY)
I'm a 26 year old graphic-designer and musician currently residing in Augsburg, Germany. My interest in conlangs developed long before I ever heard the term. I used to entertain my friends in kindergarten with all the weird noises I could produce. Some of these sounds were just squeals and grunts, others began to sound like words, silly ones but words. The practice sticks to this day. Star Wars, which is filled with a plethora of tongues (invented by sound designer Ben Burtt, whose body of work I will adore forever) would invade my life and inspire me a few years later. The dream to create a language of my own had been rearing its head here and there since but didn't grow beyond experimental typography and glossolalia - Jyalosæ wouldn't come into fruition until I started working on my thesis in late 2013, which culminated in the creation of a complete fictional world. A fan of authenticity I found it absurd to let my creatures speak an existing language and instead opted for the arduous approach of creating Jyalosæ. 

ABOUT JYALOSÆ:
Jyalosæ is inspired by Latin and Japanese but created with the intent to resemble neither phonetically. It can be categorized as a fusional language but its use of particles and its SOP word order are more akin to japanese and korean. Phonetically it is a mash-up of eastern and western influences. The earliest origins of Jyalosæ can be traced back to a script design from 7 years ago that showed distinct weaknesses when writing european languages. To alleviate this problem I made a few primitive attempts at a foreign language, but at that time it didn't seem to go anywhere. The script was never abandoned completely and later morphed into something more abstract in the calligraphy class of Professor Heitmann, where I got the idea to create my own language, along with its culture, script and world, which would become the end result of my bachelor's thesis in 2014. If you are building a complete functioning world Tolkien is pretty much as good as you could ever hope to get but I specifically made sure that my language would not resemble his creations in any way, since there are already too many faux elvish tongues out there. Creating Jyalosæ took about 4 months of intense work which completely ate up my life and ultimately spat me out a blissful pile of bubbling poetry. Since it took on a life of its own early on it is difficult to pinpoint what exactly inspired me.

THE THREE LANGUAGES I FOUND MOST BEAUTIFUL:
Japanese: it has this aura of nobility and strength to it and its syllabic structure makes it the perfect language for singing
French: smooth and almost arrogant in tone it gives death tenderness and love the necessary morbid touch
German: as smooth as velvet and as rough as sharkskin my mothertongue seems to elude and fascinate me the most.
