GOTTFRIED EDUARD ARNOLD
In 1962, Gottfried Eduard Arnold developed the method to inject teflon into the vocal cords und coined the term »phonosurgery« with Hans von Leden the following year.
Gottfried Eduard Arnold - also: Godfrey Edward Arnold - was an Austrian American professor of medicine and researcher. His studies centered on speech, speech disorder and clinical communicology.

PHONOSURGERY: A procedure on the vocal cords and adjacent tissue intended to improve the voice's timbre, tone and quality. Assessment techniques are acoustic and aerodynamic measurements, laryngeal stroboscopy, manual compression, and intraoperative monitoring of voice. Surgical techniques are injection, laryngeal microsurgery, laryngeal framework modification–eg, medialization thyroplasty, laser techniques.
